I decided to use quite a bold font for the front cover. The contents page will have writing that is quite big so that it is easy to read. I have made the layout quite spread out to attract people to the magazine and so that it looks easy to read. I named it The Fresher because my target audience is for the first years of the college. I made my contents page have decorations in the other box to make it look colourful but in the real contents page I feel I might change it to a bold colour. The contents page is simple so that it is clear to read for everyone. I didn't want the picture to be too big incase it might distract people from the writing on the front cover.

These are my final magazine front cover and contents page. I don't like the front cover I think If I were to change it I would change the picture as the picture looked strange when I stretched it out to big. I like the colour choice simple white and a pink top part.
I would have added more extra details to make it more appealing to my target audience. I feel in some ways that the front cover appeals more to girls because of the pink background around the heading.

I asked a person who had just started at the college and they said that the magazine front cover was slightly dull and that I should brighten it up a bit and change the front cover picture to something more happy.
They stated that If they saw the magazine at the college they would not find it appealing due to the lack of colour. If I were to have time to do more to the front cover I would add some more pictures to the front of other students around the college.I like the size of the font though I feel it works well for the magazine.

These are my images I used two different people at the college they are both hard working students. Both of them look happy and that will appeal to different people at the college. The second image is slightly blurry due to the camera I used and the lighting so If I were to make a new magazine front cover I would work harder on the pictures that I took. Due to the fact that the picture is of a girl the magazine may not appeal to boys as much because they may think the magazine will be girly.

College Magazine

This is my first blog in Media......I have been asked to create my very own College magazine. I have focused my magazine on all of the things going on around the college and the events I feel that the college students will be interested in. For this magazine we were asked to design the front cover of the magazine and take pictures to display around the front cover. I named the magazine the fresher and decided to display photos of best dressed students and focus on a band in the college. I have decided that this magazine will be for first year students as it will appeal to them and I shall use a first year student on the front cover.
